Applied Social Psychology (PhD.PSYC) - Coursework

The following courses are normally required for students continuing from the MA. Students joining the program after having completed a master’s degree at another institution may have different course requirements depending on the courses they completed during their MA. These requirements will be determined at the time of admission. (For descriptions of the courses please see the Graduate Program Calendar)

 

•PSYC*6900 [0.50] Philosophy and History of Psychology as a Science

•One of the following:

◦PSYC*6380 [0.50] Multivariate Statistics for Psychological Research

◦PSYC*6950 [0.50] Qualitative Methods in Psychology

•One of the following three core AS courses

◦PSYC*6910 [0.50] Critical Approaches to Applied Social Psychology

◦PSYC*6920 [0.50] Applied Social Psychology and Interventions

◦PSYC*6930 [0.50] Community, Culture and Global Citizenship

•One elective course to be determined in consultation with the student's PhD Advisory Committee and approved by the Graduate Area Representative

•One of the following two experiential courses:

◦PSYC*6471 Practicum I [0.50]  or PSYC*6472 [1.00] Practicum II

◦PSYC*6522 [0.50] Research Seminar II

Qualifying Exam

PhD dissertation


Each student’s specific course requirements is to be discussed with the supervisor and the graduate program coordinator at the start of the student's degree. The requirements for each student are to be submitted as part of the Graduate Degree Program form (section B), which is to be completed for each admitted student at the start of the degree
